Abstract :
In an effort to make the power system network more reliable and sustainable, there have been ongoing changes in the existing grid, which in turn has resulted in, the increased usage of power electronic devices. Increased switching could create many issues pertaining voltage waveform quality; such as, initiating severe stresses on the electrical insulation system in various power system components. The paper investigates the cable termination surface potential distribution under distorted voltage waveforms composed of fundamental and 5th order harmonic at different distortion levels.
