Abstract :
A novel approach is introduced for the analysis of energy detection of unknown deterministic signals, where the energy detector uses dual diversity reception. The energy detector is assumed to employ a low complexity diversity technique, namely square-law combining. A general case where the two diversity branches are correlated is treated by the analysis. Detection and false alarm probabilities for the energy detector are derived for correlated Rayleigh and Rician fading channels.
