Abstract
The design of low Earth orbiting (LEO) satellite systems for personal communication services raises specific problems. Preliminary studies of LEO satellite systems entail exploring numerous satellite constellations with time varying geometry. From mission objectives and quantitative service specifications, the best constellation must be selected and the network performance evaluated. The paper proposes a methodology and presents its associated tools for rapidly evaluating the performance of any candidate system, as a support to the designer´s task
