Abstract :
This paper discusses the service maintenance and testing strategy for the Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN). It proposes a suite of switch testing capabilities that include capabilities local to service switch point (SSP), capabilities for SSP and service control point (SCP) interactions, and capabilities for SSP and the signalling system number 7 (SS7) network interactions. The AIN SSP should support these capabilities to allow complete intra-SSP (local to SSP) and end-to-end network fault verification and sectionalization. The capabilities proposed in this paper form the nucleus of the network testing and service maintenance for intelligent networks. These capabilities enable the tester to identify and isolate the troubles and faults in the network to maintain service and resource integrity
