  • Abstract
The paper considers the effect of a fine frequency deviation generated in a transmission channel on the performance of an adaptive equalizer. We describe a channel model with a frequency deviation and investigate how the equalizer is adapted to the channel. The test results show that even a small amount of frequency deviations can severely deteriorate the adaptation performance. The paper also proposes a method for detecting a fine frequency deviation. This method makes it possible to accurately detect a frequency deviation less than 1 Hz within a short estimation time
