Abstract :
This paper presents the potential inherent synergy possible by linking PCS radio systems with PSTN switching and intelligent networks. Bellcore has defined an interface reference point, C, and a series of network services that may be made available from the PSTN to a PCS provider that may improve the PCS provider´s ability to offer PCS to its customers. PCS providers can develop and deploy end user services without the added costs and expenses of implementing an overlay switching network. PSTN infrastructure capabilities are utilized in classical switching, vertical feature support, signalling and operations processes, where present PSTN operators excel. Radio system implementers can thereby concentrate on the unique aspects of PCS radio telephony and the PCS customers
