Abstract
This paper describes a current program of work which involves the investigation of the effectiveness of CDMA systems overlaid on FDMA communications systems. It includes the reasons for using an overlay system, the BER analysis methodology, the effects of coding and synchronisation, regulatory issues and a description of the hardware testbed used for analysis verification
