  • Abstract
Rapid penetration of Internet-enabled mobile handsets is witnessed worldwide. Very little is known about the current status of the mobile Internet Webs in spite of the fast penetration. This paper explores the current mobile Internet Webs using long-term experimental observations on the mobile Web top pages. A robot system to fetch the mobile Internet content is designed and implemented. An early result about the content size, use of the elements in each page of the content, and the HTTP responses are described. In addition, the redirected pages are also examined to identify the characteristics of the mobile Internet. The author describes the transition of the monthly-based top page update ratio. The author presents differences between the mobile and the wired Internet and their implications.
