Abstract
This paper discusses design issues for uniform rectangular antenna arrays and the requirements for channel sounding applications. Two different array realizations are presented. The first array is based on Vivaldi antennas the second on patch antennas. The arrays consist of 32 dual polarization-sensitive radiators. Both arrays operate at 2 GHz, covering the uplink and downlink bands of the UMTS standard. The resulting performance of the arrays is compared and discussed.
