Abstract :
This work presents a new fully distributed multihop wireless ad-hoc routing protocol (multiWARP) that aims at minimizing the number of route request (RREQ) packets transmitted between nodes in a directed way, which we term "covercasting". The method used to minimize the number of individual RREQ packets transmitted is achieved through application of the NP-complete set covering problem, in conjunction with a hybrid routing protocol with an awareness region limiter based on the hop-count distance between nodes.
