Abstract
The non-destructive inspection of large-generator stators is a repetitive and time-consuming task, ideal to be performed by a robot. This paper describes the design and implementation of such a device, conceived to inspect all stator bars and stator winding slots, with the rotor removed from the generator. The inspection requirements as well as the realized robotic solution are presented. The performances of the robot as well as future improvement steps are discussed.
