Abstract
We introduce Unison, a generic framework that serves to standardize the development of hapto-visual applications by providing a fixed set of services to the developer, independently of his or her choice of graphic and haptic software and hardware. Subsequently, we introduce an e-commerce application, namely a virtual car showroom, and discuss how it is developed within Unison. Finally we analyze the pros and cons of Unison as applied to the aforementioned application and contrast the application development process within Unison to the otherwise highly unique and custom development process completed outside our generic framework.
