Abstract :
RF sources are required at frequencies in the terahertz range for molecular spectroscopy, background radioastronomy, and remote sensing of comets, Earth, and other planetary atmospheres. These devices are needed as local oscillator (LO) sources in heterodyne receivers. The program is developing backward wave oscillators (BWO) with improved efficiency and performance to meet this requirement.
