Abstract :
In this paper the design geometric parameters and performance of the vortex tube, used as a cooling and heating device of high efficiency is investigated experimentally, it was carried out on the counter-flow vortex rig, especially designed for the present study covering all tests. The effect of cold end orifice diameters and length to diameters ratio, on the performance of a counter flow vortex tube on the overall energy separation , by using various (L/D) and cold end orifice diameters with various inlet pressure and setting hot outlet by fixing inlet temperature . The results show a pronounced influence of vortex tube (L = 180 mm), on the energy separation performance. The results also show that the maximum value of energy separation was always reachable at cold air mass ratio (μc = 0.6), irrespective of the cold end orifice diameter and the inlet pressure. The results are compared with the previous studies; it has shown a good agreement and compatible results with them.
