Abstract :
The gradient properties of functionally graded materials (FGMs) were taken as a volume fraction power-law distribution. Based on Donnell´s shell theory, the governing equations for linear vibration of functionally graded (FG) cylindrical thin shells were established. Free vibration of FG cylindrical thin shells was analyzed. Frequency formula for simply supported FG cylindrical thin shells was presented. By comparing results for simply supported cylindrical shells with previous works and finite element method, the present shell theory was validated.
