Abstract :
The polluted water discharged into natural water body is one of the most important factors that contaminate water quality. Generally, there are many pollution sources in a reach of a river. According to the polluted water discharge feature, water pollution sources are divided into two types of continuous and discontinuous. For the continuous, the certain method is used to determine its amount of pollutant discharge. For the discontinuous, the random theory is used to generalize its pollutant discharge amount. The uncertain method was used in analyzing the impacts of various random pollution sources on water quality. The method of predicting water quality variation based on stochastic theory was put forward and then the 2- D random water quality model was built. And finally, it was used in predicting the water quality variation of drinking water source in Nanjing reach of Yangtze River. The statistical results about water quality random variation under the joint impacts of various pollution sources were obtained.
