Abstract
Describes a PAL video scrambling system based on a modification of the active line rotation principle. The scrambling method does not modify the synchronization signals and can therefore be used with any standard broadcasting system. It does not degrade the signal quality due to the scrambling and descrambling process. It gives very good scrambling and hence high security against unauthorized descrambling. It can easily be modified to work with NTSC signals. Subscriber decoders are in volume production.<>
