Abstract
Two key issues in active measurement are veracity and low injection traffic sent by measurement tool. The Spatio-Temporal Available Bandwidth (STAB) can obtain accurate available bandwidth on end-to-end network paths when available bandwidth is relative high. But this method may not run well when the bottleneck capacity or available bandwidth of a path is low. This paper proposes an improved active measurement algorithm based on STAB to obtain more accurate available bandwidth and reduce sent traffic under the condition that the available bandwidth or bottleneck capacity is low. Experiments show that the improved algorithm can greatly provide high veracity and reduce the measurement traffic when the available or bottleneck capacity is low.
