  • Abstract
Various aspects and specific problems of the personal instrument (PI) management software are examined with particular regard to design efficiency and user-friendly capability. To exploit the intrinsic versatility of such an instrumental structure, a global approach, oriented toward minimizing user effort in the development and use of a measurement system, is proposed. This approach includes software support for window-based interactive graphics and insensitive data array processing, as well as a natural-language man-machine interface created for instrumental applications. Basic aspects of the proposed approach are presented and the particular characteristics of the real implementation are discussed
