            Abstract :
A case history of an instrumentation design project, namely the conversion of aircraft instrument information into video format for display, is discussed. The interface system was divided into two communicating autonomous hardware/software subsystems, which greatly simplified the testing and calibration tasks. The system specification and design are discussed, and the instrumentation-to-personal-computer (PC) interface and PC-resident software are examined in some detail. The intended use of the system is for conductive preliminary studies of human factor issues
