Abstract :
This paper addresses the power quality (PQ) meter placement using a fuzzy expert system (FES). The meters are placed to make the system observable with minimum meters in the system. The PQ meters are placed using the suitability index. The suitability index is derived using FES has voltage and power loss index as input. Further, the importance of the voltage and power as input to the fuzzy system is also presented. The approach adopted is applied to the IEEE 9-bus radial distribution system and a ski area bus system. The minimum number of meters is determined at the suitable buses and results are discussed.
