Abstract
Bluetooth localization was a very active research area in the past years. The usual localization procedures were implemented with accuracy sufficient for many applications and their functionality was proven. What so far is still missing are practically applicable infrastructure components. The past research projects used mainly PCs with Bluetooth Dongles as base stations, which have two serious disadvantages. On the one hand they are absolutely oversized for this application and on the other hand they occupy additional Ethernet ports at the Switches. For the solution of exactly this problem, describes this contribution a classical Ethernet Switch, into which a Bluetooth localization service was integrated. Thus the integration of a localization service into the normal building infrastructure is carried out.
