  • Abstract
    We review different implementations of semiconductor devices for all-optical regeneration. A general model is presented for all-optical regeneration in fiber links, taking into consideration the trade-off between non-linearity and noise. Furthermore we discuss a novel regenerator type, based on saturable gain and absorption in a waveguide structure.
