Abstract :
This paper adds to the growing amount of material on digital television; a new way of presenting video. A leap is made from the traditional 2D video to a more realistic 3D video. The 2D and 3D models are compared. It is shown that 3D video offers more realism and freedom of movement. It also shows how it can be used to improve existing biometric systems. It shows how distributive processing using the Message Passing Interface can be used to synchronize several video cameras to give the end user the freedom to select different view sites while the video is playing.
