Abstract :
The process and structure of a discharge in a long rod-plane gap have been clarified by the aid of the Lichtenberg figure technique. A model for simulating the effects of the positive space charge has been established. With the help of the model, the electric-field distribution along the axis of a rod-plane gap during the discharge is studied quantitatively, and the inception voltage, the length, and the charge of the positive corona streamer are calculated. The calculated values are in good agreement with experimental values
