Abstract :
This paper presents main critical issues to be considered in order to optimize the design and implementation of HID Electronic Ballast. Several topologies have been examined to show advantages and disadvantages of every one of them and to help deciding which topology is the best option, depending on the application. A 70 W prototype has been implemented in order to show the basic operation of every ballast stage.
