Abstract
The paper presents the status of the application of intelligent control to robots, and discusses future perspectives. We shall start with a brief introduction to the basic concepts underlying intelligent control. A human operator can control a robot without requiring a knowledge of its mathematical model, and learns how to do this. Intelligent control mimics the behaviour of a human operator, and does not require the large amount of computation associated with conventional adaptive control
