Abstract :
To optimally design and allocate the wireless resources in UMTS network, characteristics of data traffic should be draw out. This paper presents the traffic analyzing method of radio packet-switch service based on the live data captured in lu-PS interface in operational UMTS network. By introducing the concept of RRC contexts, we put forward an approach to abstract RRC contexts from the captured data with particular protocol messages. To analysis the traffic based on the RRC context, characteristics of contexts and traffic analysis are discussed. Finally the Self-Similarity is implied and proved to be exhibited for the aggregated traffic of RRC contexts, which provide a new direction for the study of modeling of wireless traffic.
