Abstract
Since the installation of the nominal 10-kW proof-of-concept solar cell array (POCA) in November 1989, efforts have continued to improve the cost and efficiency of high-concentration arrays. Incremental improvements in the reliability and performance of the modules have led to the production of modules that should upgrade the array to about 15 kW. The day-to-day operation of the tracker has allowed improvements in the structural, drive, and control elements of the array. The experience and insight provided by POCA have also allowed the design of semi-automated and fully automated production facilities. These facilities and the performance improvements strongly indicate that an installed cost of less than $2.00 per watt is achievable
