Abstract :
In plant construction the use of simulation methods for the dimensioning of machines is becoming more significant. A comprehensive investigation comprising electrical and mechanical subsystems provides optimum preconditions for simulating a drive system. This requires an equal representation of both the electrical and mechanical system components in one model. The use of a uniform simulation program offers the possibility to combine the mechanical modelling with the electrical requirements. The procedure for simulation-aided design with regard to torsional vibrations is described in detail. The rolling mill drive systems is used as a representative drive system
