Abstract :
New radar systems with technical capabilities based on composite signal processing of VHF, “L” and/or “S” band radars have to be investigated for possible takeover of newly emerged air surveillance challenges. This article would like to draw the reader´s attention to the potential benefits of VHF, “L” and/or “S” band radars signal fusion. The new network centric approach leads to a gradual shift from single radar, efficient against traditional targets, to complex very efficient composite signal processing radar network for everyday operation. These modern signal processing techniques which radars now employ should have an increasing role in modern Air Surveillance Systems to improve detection performances, resolution, track maintenance and non-cooperative target recognition.
