Abstract :
Distributed reflectors are proposed to implement centralized optical-layer fault detection, localization, and notification, in long-reach passive optical networks. We introduce synchronous system and power budgeting algorithms. Our simulations demonstrate light-speed fault notification using off-the-shelf components.
