Abstract :
An automatic stirring method is presented for testing the dielectric strength of insulating oil with a recently developed electronic device. A series of comparative tests were conducted, the results of which show that the test data from this automatic stirring method have good equivalence to those from other methods and that the new method is more efficient than the manual or other stirring methods. It is particularly suitable for test cups with planar electrodes. The electronic stirring device avoids contact with the tested oil, so that there is no contamination, and stirring is uniform. The stirring device has been used for many years in the Liyujiang, China, power plant and other labs and has been produced commercially. It is simple and convenient for practical use, and it is low in cost
