Abstract :
A study was made using GPC, 13C nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and dynamic viscoelastic spectroscopy to determine the structure and properties of three low-density polyethylenes (LDPEs) used for the basic resins in crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) cable insulation and on their corresponding XLPEs. The results show an apparent difference in branch type and the amount of various double bonds between LDPEs Q200 and HFDE-4201, as well as UBEC-510, that is responsible for differences in the structure and properties of their corresponding XLPEs
