            Abstract :
Vergence eye movements are the inward (convergence) or outward (divergence) turning of the eyes which allows humans to view images in depth. Divergence is dependent on initial stimulus conditions whereas convergence is not. This study will investigate if the forces of the extraocular muscles show a causal relationship to divergence dynamics. The neural command to the brain is a four degree stimulus; however responses were measured when the extraocular muscles experienced different forces. The results show the extraocular muscles specifically the lateral and medical recti muscles have an influence on the dynamics of divergence eye movements.
