Abstract :
A microwave interferometric measurement system which consists of general waveguide components for determining the complex permittivity and permeability of solid materials with a relatively high-loss tanδ is reported. The usable frequency range is 3 to 40 GHz for the waveguide system. Different materials, such as teflon, polyurethane, ferrite, carbon black, and carbonyl iron, were measured at frequencies of 8.2 to 12.4 GHz and 35 GHz using this technique. The measured data are found to agree well with those using other techniques
