Abstract :
When a liquid with good insulating properties flows through a pipe an electrical charge is generated. In the author´s previous investigations of charge volume in such cases, the charge was found to depend on the product of (1) the quantity of dissociated ions in the liquid and (2) the quantity of energy required to transfer these ions to the interface and there to adsorb them. It therefore became apparent that whereas the liquid´s conductivity depends on the positive and negative charges contained in it, the charging tendency is determined solely by the quantity of dissociated ions. Here, the authors discuss the equation they have derived from factors (1) and (2) above, and test this equation by curve fitting. Finally, they deduce the relation between the conduction activation energy thus determined and streaming current
