Abstract
A novel method is described for performing ultralow-frequency dielectric spectroscopy by the fast Fourier transform (FFT) technique. Measuring the absorption current by an electrometer, two groups of data with different sampling time intervals are obtained. The FFT is then used to implement the complex dielectric frequency spectroscopy, the frequency ranging from 10-5 Hz to 0.5 Hz. The measuring system, consisting of an electrometer and a microcomputer, can perform data collection and spectroscopy calculation automatically. This FFT-based method can greatly reduce the calculation time. Experimental results on various kinds of materials show that the proposed approach is successful. The sensitivity of ε" is about 10-4
