Abstract
The general legislation relating to the safety of industrial and commercial electrical installations in the UK is the HSW ACT 1974. Section 2 is particularly relevant, and where an installation is in a situation where persons not employed there have access, Section 3 is also relevant. The author describes how this can be considered as the background legislation in the field of electrical installation safety
