Abstract :
The independent electricity system operator (IESO) operates the bulk electricity system and administers the electricity markets in the province of Ontario, Canada. In day to day operation, achieving voltage security is one of the formidable tasks confronting the IESO operators. This paper briefly summarizes how the IESO manages voltage security and procures reactive power under the open market environment.
