Abstract :
The Microcomputer Controlled Crystal Oscillator (MCXO), a new type of precision oscillator, features a temperature stability of plus or minus three parts in ten to the minus eighth, over -55 to +85 degrees Centigrade, at low power and with fast warm-up time. It provides thirty times better stability than conventional Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators (TCXO). This paper describes the Q-Tech MCXO design, and presents recent testing results, including the testing and conditioning of 3rd overtone, SC-cut resonators for MCXO application, and over 100 finished MCXOs
