Abstract :
This paper describes the Swedish broadband market and compares it to other countries. Sweden has a high ICT maturity and ambitious goals, but there are still groups that are not reached. Broadband should be regarded as a utility in line with water, heating and electricity, and to achieve this, a highquality home network is important. Recommendations on how to build a low-cost, future-proof home network are reported. This is all related to Acreopsilas broadband and testbed activities including the recently initiated EU-project ALPHA which are described.
