Abstract :
A prototype 2-bit 20 Gsps analog-to-digital converter (ADC) fabricated in a 0.8μm InP HBT technology is presented. With applicability to digital equalization in high rate optical communications receivers, this ADC achieves 1.8 effective number of bits (ENoB) Nyquist performance at a sample rate of 20 Gsps, while dissipating 1.6 watts.
