Abstract :
The authors describe an electric-acoustic laboratory, including a partial discharge detection and location system. The laboratory includes special acoustic transducers which possesses various bandwidth and longitudinal sensitivity characteristics. The response curves of the transducers are well selected and checked carefully. An advanced multichannel transient recorder is used to acquire electrical and ultrasonic signals which can be sent to a microcomputer. This system provides for accurate and efficient measurements of the distance from a partial discharge source to the transducer. Results obtained with this system are presented
