Abstract :
Recent years have shown that wireless sensor networks (WSN) are becoming more and more popular in industry and everyday life activities. The topology control is a crucial technique, which is used to obtain energy efficiency without affecting the network´s connectivity and coverage. The article demonstrates a specific topology control mechanism that significantly reduces the energy consumption without affecting the network´s connectivity and coverage. The results are compared to different approaches proposed by other authors. Finally, the authors discuss the topology control mechanisms usage for the forthcoming years.
