Abstract :
This article examines culture and heritage protection and tourism development status in China. The background of cultural heritage tourism development is first introduced and then the risk of loss of unique and nonrenewable cultural heritage assets, and community benefits and all the stakeholders´ interest associated with the cultural heritage tourism are discussed. In the literature review of Chinese cultural heritage tourism development, topics examined include the analysis of protection systems, construction of the legal and management system, and the involvement of capital, theory, technology, talent and public in academic studies. Chinese cultural heritage tourism research has been focused on topics such as the study of folk houses, ancient cities, but the examination of tourism attractions is comparatively lacking. There are a number of studies on the internal and external management of heritage places, but not so many from the perspective of tourists. A case study is provided that examines the protection, management and tourism development of cultural heritage in China.
