  • Abstract
An IP network shall be viewed as a hierarchical group of completely autonomous nodes, which have their exclusive properties such as queues, routing tables, service routines and classes. A few critical drawbacks in NS-2´s model have prevented people from simulating large-scaled IP networks with complex topology, or evaluating an individual node´s performance. In this paper we introduce a new simulator based on the single-queued model for autonomous systems. We briefly introduce its architecture and simulation methods, and use examples to demonstrate its strengths in calculating specific IP network issues, including HOL blocking and crossed traffics. A new evaluation philosophy emerges from its runtime animation and system report.
