Abstract
An aggregation method for performance evaluation of a line consisting of machines which may fail, and buffers, is presented. The first approach is based on a simple aggregation which associates an "equivalent machine" with a set consisting of two machines separated by a buffer. An improved approach takes the environment into account to define the "equivalent" machine.
