Geographic Information System Application in Ecotourism

With the fast development of national economy, human beings´ needs resources and the environment are higher and higher. Therefore it is great important to acquire the information of the present situation and changes of the resources promptly, to protect and to develop sustainable for the resources and ecological environment precisely and dynamically. This paper gives a brief introduction on the GIS and the definitions of tourism and ecotourism. The paper expounds the GIS´s applied trends in investigation and evaluation, development, touring program, environment protection and management of ecotourism resources systematically. It summarizes several problems about GIS application in ecotourism, such as the immature development, the limitations of the supplying model and the lack of professional cultivating complex talent. Then it puts forward some countermeasures to solve these problems.
