Abstract :
We study the electrodynamic characteristics of a loop antenna located on the surface of an axially magnetized plasma column and having the form of an infinitesimally thin, perfectly conducting narrow strip. It is assumed that the current of the antenna is excited by a time-harmonic voltage creating an electric field with the azimuthal component in a gap of small angular opening on the strip surface. It is shown that the presence of such a gyrotropic plasma column can significantly affect the current distribution and input impedance of the antenna compared with the case where the same antenna is located in free space or a homogeneous medium the parameters of which coincide with those inside the column.
